Ballet, Sports, Special Parties
My fascination with the camera began when I was 18 years old. Since then, I have always been seen behind the lens of a camera. I began my formal training in Photography in 1992 at Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute and continue to study there today. As a photographer, it is important to continue learning new techniques and always strive to perfect the art I produce.
In 2000, I was selected among a large field of candidates by Popular Photography Magazine to mentor with Jill Enfield, a world-renowned/ author and award winning photographer , in Puerto Rico. This mentorship resulted in photographic publication in “Puerto Rico” a travel magazine published for tourists in conjunction with the Board of Tourism of Puerto Rico.
I am currently the photographer for the Leatherstocking Ballet Company and have documented their performances since their inception 12 years ago. In 2001, I opened my first solo exhibit at the Rome Art and Community Center titled “Dans dans” The exhibit explored almost ten years of dance events in the Mohawk Valley.
Two years later, my second exhibit titled, “No Place to Exhale", opened at the Blue Mountain Lake Center for the Arts. This exhibit explored the social aspects of the cigar smoker and their shrinking habitat.
Most recently, I have studied portraiture with Monte Zucker, an accomplished and celebrated portrait photographer. I have also studied Adobe Photoshop with Eddie Tapp, one of the leading teachers of this computer application. Both Monte Zucker and Eddie Tapp are award winning portrait and wedding photographers who are highly in demand world wide as a teachers and lecturers.
I was also the sideline photographer for the Whitesboro Warrior Varsity and Junior Varsity football team. I loveed documenting my beloved Warriors and truly enjoy following them throughout their Section III Class A events.
Three years ago I opened my photography studio, Photography by Patricia J. Tahan. My personal philosophy when photographing people is that it is essential to make a strong connection with my client and that we have the same vision in regards to what you, the client, wants. With that in mind, I work with you to create a wonderful photographic experience with exceptional artistic results.
